Fresh Ground: 5 Concepts I’m Unlocking for the Class of 2027

To the Class of 2027: Stop looking at last year’s photos.

If you scroll through Instagram right now to get ideas for your senior pictures, you are looking at the past. You see the same five locations everyone in the Class of 2026 used. The same park benches. The same pillars at the Capitol. The same tall grass.

It’s safe. It’s pretty. And frankly, it’s been done.

For the Class of 2027, I am not interested in repeating what the seniors before you did. I’ve been spending my off-hours driving around Thurston County, scouting locations that fit the new "Commercial Sports" direction of my brand.

I am looking for the bold rising seniors who are willing to skip the rose garden and step into something grittier.

Here are 5 concepts I am unlocking for this upcoming season.

1. The "Concrete Canyon" (Downtown Alleys)

I’ve been eyeing the texture in the alleys off 4th and 5th Avenue. The brick is weathered, the fire escapes add vertical lines, and the light cuts through in narrow, dramatic beams. I want to take a senior here with a full off-camera flash setup to create a "New York Editorial" look right here in Oly.

2. The Rooftop Sunset

There is a specific parking deck in town that offers the cleanest horizon line in the city. Most people just park their cars there. I see a stage. I want to put an athlete up there at "Golden Hour," overpower the sun with strobes, and make it look like you own the city. No trees, no distractions—just you and the sky.

3. The "Deep Woods" Cinema

I’m done with bright, airy park photos. I’ve been looking at the denser trails in Watershed and Priest Point—not for the pretty leaves, but for the shadows. I want to shoot here when it’s overcast and moody, using artificial light to carve you out of the background. Think "Twilight" meets "Nike Trail Running."

4. The Track (My Home Turf)

This one I know well, but for 2027, I’m changing the approach. We aren't just standing on the finish line smiling. I want to get low—tarmac level. I want to shoot at night under the stadium lights. Whether it’s South Sound Stadium or your high school track, I want to capture the isolation and focus of a night practice.

5. The Industrial Edge

I’ve been scouting near the Port and the industrial parks. Rusted fences, corrugated steel walls, shipping containers. This is for the senior who wants contrast. Imagine a formal prom dress or a sharp suit against a wall of rusted steel. It’s a vibe that screams "Magazine Cover," not "Yearbook Photo."

Be the First.

Because I haven't burned these spots out yet, you have the chance to have images that nobody else in your school has.

I have the lighting, the gear, and the vision. I just need the subject.

If you are ready to set the tone for your senior year before it even starts, let’s get to work.
