We don't just "point and shoot." We choose a lighting strategy.
Every collection allows for High Voltage drama, Luminous joy, or a mix of both.
High Voltage
My signature editorial look. Off-camera flash, cinematic color grading, and dramatic atmosphere. Designed to stop the scroll.
Luminous Editorial
Bright, authentic, and open. We strip away the complex rigging for a "joy-first" aesthetic that keeps the parents (and grandparents) happy.

Behind The Scenes
The Edit
Every image you receive goes through my signature color-grading process. I don't just apply a filter. I hand-retouch skin, dodge and burn lighting, and color grade to match the mood.
Client Love
Heard On The Street
Russell's photos completely exceeded my expectations. They are absolutely stunning! The whole process felt effortless and fun. I never felt pressured or awkward... it was like spending time with a friend who happened to be taking incredible photos.
He told me exactly how to pose and position. I was so happy with the results and would totally do another shoot with him. Russell helped me feel more natural when I typically struggle to take photos.

Frequently Asked
Best Locations in Olympia?
Olympia is full of incredible spots! For a natural vibe, I recommend Priest Point Park or the trails at Capitol State Forest. For a more urban/editorial feel, downtown Olympia, the alleyway murals, and the waterfront offer fantastic backdrops. We can decide on the perfect vibe when you book.
When Should I Book?
Late summer and early fall are popular for that "golden light," while spring offers lush greenery. My calendar is currently open on a 90-day rolling window. I recommend securing your date 2-3 months in advance, especially if you want a weekend slot.
What Should I Wear?
I recommend bringing 2-3 outfits that make you feel confident. Think about variety: one casual fit (everyday style), something dressed up, and an outfit that showcases a sport or hobby (jersey/instrument). Avoid small, busy patterns and large logos that distract from your face.
Can I Bring a Friend/Pet?
Absolutely. This session is about celebrating you, and that includes the important people (and animals) in your life. I can definitely incorporate them into a portion of the shoot. Just mention it in your booking notes so I can plan the timeline accordingly.
The Artist
Meet Russell
I’m a photographer, a dad, and an ultra-runner. I don't believe in halfway. Whether I'm at mile 40 of a race or editing your final gallery, I bring the same level of grit and focus.
My goal isn't just to take a pretty picture; it's to capture the energy of this moment in your life. No stiff poses. No fake smiles. Just authentic, high-contrast art that looks like you.
