The lens follows the race,
not the roster.
I don't shoot volume galleries anymore. No 2,000-frame dumps, no bib-searchable archives, no guarantee that every runner crosses my frame. That model produced a lot of files and very few photographs worth keeping.
What I shoot now is the meet itself — editorial documentary coverage of Washington high school cross country, free-range, for the culture. The leader committing at the hairpin. The freshman closing on tired legs. The chute at the moment form gives out. I go where the story goes, and the story doesn't check start lists.
The documentary photo gallery from NXR Northwest will be a curated set of selects. Your athlete might be in it. That's the honest deal — and at this meet, it's the only deal. No commissions, no priority channel. Everyone gets the same lens.

Commissions are paused for this meet. Two days of racing and a brand-new championship course — a private shooting plan here would be a promise I can't keep, so I don't sell it. Guaranteed Coverage commissions are available at regular-season and league/district meets, where I can actually deliver the contract.

Will there be photos of every athlete at NXR Northwest?
No. Coverage at NXR Northwest is editorial and follows the story of the races, not the roster. Across a full Saturday of championship, open, and rising-stars racing, no single photographer can frame every starter.
Can I book a guaranteed commission at NXR Northwest?
No. Commissions are not offered at NXR Northwest. Guaranteed Coverage commissions are available at regular-season and league/district meets only, where a dedicated shooting plan is actually deliverable.
Are the NXR photos really free to use?
Social-ready crops from the NXR Northwest gallery are free for athletes, teams, and families to post and share with credit. Print, media, and commercial licensing is available on request.
When does the NXR Northwest gallery go live?
Curated selects publish within 72 hours of the final race. You can open the gallery now, enter your email, and you'll get a notice when the photos drop. The gallery button on this page activates automatically when they're up.
Which days will you be at NXR Northwest?
I'll be on site Saturday, November 21 only. I won't be at Friday's Rising Stars races, so there will be no photos from Friday.
Who can race at NXR Northwest, and do I have to be on a club team?
Any high school runner or club can enter, and individuals are welcome too. A club needs at least five members to enter as a team; smaller groups run as individuals. Scoring teams must come from one high school, or from a state-approved co-op between schools.
How do teams get into the championship races?
There is no formal invitation. Everyone registers, and a Nike selection committee picks the top clubs in each gender for the championship races. Race assignments are posted on the regional page before race day, and teams are not contacted directly.
How is team scoring decided at NXR Northwest?
Team placings use five-runner scoring under USATF rules, and ties go to the team whose fifth scorer finishes closest to first place. Separately, the top 20 girls and top 20 boys teams earn NXR All-Region recognition based on the combined times of their best seven runners, which can include runners from JV races.
