Notice of Operations — 2026 Season
The lens follows the race,
not the roster.
I don't shoot volume galleries anymore. No 2,000-frame dumps, no bib-searchable archives, no guarantee that every runner crosses my frame. That model produced a lot of files and very few photographs worth keeping.
What I shoot now is the meet itself — editorial documentary coverage of Washington high school cross country, free-range, for the culture. The leader committing at the hairpin. The freshman closing on tired legs. The chute at the moment form gives out. I go where the story goes, and the story doesn't check start lists.
The documentary photo gallery from Nike Cross Nationals will be a curated set of selects. Your athlete might be in it. That's the honest deal — and at this meet, it's the only deal. No commissions, no priority channel. Everyone gets the same lens.
- EditorialCoverage follows the narrative of the race — no roster obligations.
- CuratedA tight set of selects, not a volume archive. Every frame earns its place.
- FreeSocial-ready crops from the NXN gallery are free for athletes, teams, and families — post and share with credit.
Guaranteed Coverage — Not Offered at NXN
Commissions are paused for this meet. Two championship races, a Nike-controlled media environment, and the deepest fields in the country — a private shooting plan here would be a promise I can't keep, so I don't sell it. Guaranteed Coverage commissions are available at regular-season and league/district meets, where I can actually deliver the contract.

Know The Course — Glendoveer Golf Course
The Course
Flat and fast to start, rolling on the loops, and a sting at the end. Here is how the race runs, from the gun to the line.
- The start. The gun sends runners down a flat, open 370 m straightaway, jockeying for position before the first turn onto the rolling main loop.
- The first main loop. Near the end of the loop, runners angle slightly right toward the 1-mile mark.
- The back loop. After the mile, the course climbs the biggest hill on the property. Runners crest it, take a sweeping 180-degree turn, and run the long loop back toward the start.
- The second main loop. Back past the start line, runners circle the main loop one last time, then peel off toward the finish.
- The finish. Just before the 3-mile mark come two short, steep climbs. After the last one, a flat, fast 200 m straightaway runs to the line.
All grass
The entire course is run on grass. Spikes are recommended if you're comfortable in them.
Portland since 2004
Portland Meadows Race Track hosted from 2004 to 2013. The meet has been at Glendoveer since 2014.

Straight Answers
FAQ
Will there be photos of every athlete at NXN?
No. Coverage at Nike Cross Nationals is editorial and follows the story of the two championship races, not the roster. With the deepest fields in the country, no single photographer can frame every starter.
Can I book a guaranteed commission at NXN?
No. Commissions are not offered at Nike Cross Nationals. Guaranteed Coverage commissions are available at regular-season and league/district meets only, where a dedicated shooting plan is actually deliverable.
Are the NXN photos really free to use?
Social-ready crops from the NXN gallery are free for athletes, teams, and families to post and share with credit. Print, media, and commercial licensing is available on request.
When does the NXN gallery go live?
Curated selects publish within 72 hours of the final race. You can open the gallery now, enter your email, and you'll get a notice when the photos drop. The gallery button on this page activates automatically when they're up.
What time is Nike Cross Nationals 2026, and where is it?
Nike Cross Nationals is Saturday, December 5, 2026 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon. The webcast starts at 9:00 AM Pacific, the girls championship race goes at 10:05 AM and the boys championship race at 11:35 AM, with awards after each race. Times are Pacific and subject to change.
Where do spectators park at NXN?
All spectators park at Linfield University, 2900 NE 132nd Ave, Portland, OR 97230, and take a shuttle to and from Glendoveer. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the race start, and take valuables out of your vehicle before you leave it.
Can I watch NXN online?
Yes. A live webcast runs on nikecrossnationals.com, starting at 9:00 AM Pacific on race day.
How do teams and individuals qualify for NXN?
The top two clubs per gender in each regional's championship race earn automatic berths, along with the top five individuals who aren't on a qualifying club. Six more at-large club berths per gender go to teams that placed third through fifth at the regionals, chosen by a selection committee.
What shoes should runners wear at Glendoveer?
The whole course is grass. The organizers recommend spikes if you're comfortable racing in them, and spike length is a personal choice that depends on the December weather.
Is Glendoveer open to the public during NXN?
No. The golf course is closed for the event.
Can teams preview the course before the race?
Yes. There is a course run-through on Friday, before race day, for all teams competing at Nike Cross Nationals.
