The Long Game: Commercial Hospitality Photography for Olympia's Swantown Inn

Peak spring bloom provides the perfect natural framing for the Swantown Inn's historic Victorian architecture.

Good commercial relationships are rarely built overnight. My recent collaboration with Nathan and Casey at Olympia’s historic Swantown Inn is a perfect example of why patience pays off.

This project actually began back in 2023. I saw Nathan post on Facebook looking for a photographer. Driven by a desire to help local businesses elevate their visual footprint, I reached out to. We connected, but the timing wasn't quite right to pull the trigger.

Interior documentation of the guest suites, specifically timed and processed to showcase the space and natural light accurately.

Fast forward to 2025. Nathan and I reconnected to finally put things in motion. In August, I executed a proof-of-concept shoot, capturing a few environmental exteriors around the property. While my initial asset yield was a bit leaner than I typically expect from myself, Nathan's enthusiastic response—calling the images "beautiful"—solidified the trust between us.

Then, in January, Nathan pinged me asking for a comprehensive quote to document the entire Inn for a massive website refresh. I was ecstatic. They needed the visual architecture of their site to finally match the physical hospitality of the space.

As I noted in the project breakdown:

"The Swantown Inn's digital presence was bottlenecked by legacy photography. The property's existing visual assets suffered from outdated styling and execution that failed to reflect the actual premium quality of the inn."

When it was all said and done, nearly three full years had passed from that initial Facebook message to the final gallery delivery. This is exactly why you take your time and practice patience with commercial clients. The wait was entirely worth it. I secured a cornerstone hospitality photography project, and the Swantown Inn received the modernized, high-fidelity visual assets they needed to drive direct booking conversions on their updated digital storefront.
