The Photos I Kept for Myself
The WIAA XC State Championship Meet is special.
This year I was shooting for WestcoastXC once again, but I was also taking photos for Dyestat for the first time. I will admit - I was a little out of my element. Dyestat is a massive outlet and the expectations would be much different, but Doug Binder had given me his wants and they were simple enough.
Shooting for Ken at WestcoastXC is simple - I take photos and I share them. It's a bit more relaxed and I have some creative freedoms I am able to execute.
I love finding the not-so-obvious when I am taking photos. At the State Championship, I had to be very intentional and continually remind myself that I should take the photos I want to take, too, and not get too bogged down with specifics.
The results of that personal assignment are the images in this new essay. They are the quiet moments, the 'not-so-obvious' stories, and the ones I've kept for myself... until now.
